4-DAY STANDARD TANZANIAN SAFARI

Our Standard African Safari of the Great Rift Valley is a journey steeped both in cultural exploration and wildlife immersion. This luxuriously and comfortably paced adventure takes us through land that has remained relatively unchanged in the past million years, Africa’s archetype of paradise. ‘Discovered’ 100 years ago by the white man, the Great Rift Valley has 2 million years of history rich in human, animal, and plant life. Our experienced game drivers may vary the itinerary to best follow the movements of the animals. Adding one of our safari packages to your Kilimanjaro Climb is a great way to end your adventure, but they also offer an incredible standalone experience as well!

  • Today we head out on Safari. We load our Land Cruisers that have open tops so we can view animals up-close and safely
  • We will make a stop in Arusha to get some supplies for our trip, and depending on current migration patterns, we will go to either Lake Manyara National Park or Tarangire National Park for a game drive
  • Overnight: Lake Manyara Serena Lodge or Tarangire Safari Lodge
  • Meals included: B/L/D

Day 2: Visit the Bushmen & Datoga Tribes

  • Today we will drive to the remote areas near Lake Eyasi to see the Bushman tribe. This tribe has less than 300 members remaining
  • After we learn about their existence, make fire, and shoot arrows from primitive bows, we will thank them and head to visit another of Tanzania’s tribes.
  • Touring the Datoga village will show us that the Datoga are uniquely different than the Bushman tribe. Of Tanzania’s 120 tribes, these two have remained especially primitive in comparison to their counterparts
  • Overnight: Ngorongoro Farmhouse
  • Meals included: B/L/D

Day 3: Ngorongoro Conservation Area Game Drive

  • The jewel in Ngorongoro’s crown is a deep, volcanic crater, the largest unflooded and unbroken caldera in the world. About 20kms across, 600 meters deep and 300 sq kms in area, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder
  • Today we enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and do an afternoon game drive, spending the rest of the day viewing animals up close from our open top land Cruisers in the Ngorongoro Crater
  • The crater is home of the BIG 5: Elephant, African Buffalo, Leopard, Black Rhinoceros, and Lion, as well as Zebras, Cheetahs, Hippos, Hyenas, and a variety of wild animals in their natural environment
  • We will spend the evening on the rim of the crater watching the spectacular sunset.
  • Overnight: Ngorongoro Crater Lodge or Ngorongoro Serena Lodge
  • Meals included: B/L/D
