BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS | CARIBBEAN SAILING ADVENTURE

Stunning beauty, relaxed sailing, and endless activities surround you in the British Virgin Islands. Trust the trade winds to carry you to whatever you’re looking for: crystal clear waters, boulder-formed caves, and picture-perfect beaches that combine with oceanfront resorts and restaurants to provide sailors with a colorful wealth of welcomes. Easy deep-water island hops, consistent breezes, line-of-sight navigation in protected waters, and numerous anchorages for evenings ashore make this the ideal island paradise for less experienced sailors or those who want a more relaxed vacation. Each morning we set sail to our next destination, the best way to experience the beauty of the Caribbean, sun-drenched activities, relaxing atmosphere, and the history of pirates that roamed these seas long ago.

What Our Guests Say

Travel Notes

The Caribbean is beautiful all year long. To be safe, we aim to avoid the entire hurricane season, which runs from June through November.

This trip begins and ends in Road Town on Tortola Island. We recommend that guests fly into the Beef Island Airport (EIS) on Tortola. Another option is to fly into Cyril E. King Airport (STT) on St. Thomas and take a ferry to Road Town, Tortola.

International airfares are not included in program pricing. When booking international travel, we recommend working with an experienced travel agent. One that World Wide Trekking is proud to coordinate with is Brian Mei from Eastern Travel. You can reach Brian directly by calling 801.792.1721 or by email at brian@easterntravel.com. Additional support is always available by calling the Eastern Travel Office at 801.466.8811 or by emailing Michelle at michelle@easterntravel.com.

The benefit of using a travel agent is in the event of itinerary changes, the travel agent will find the best flight connections, and land arrangements, for you. Though third-party travel websites are convenient, we do not recommend using them, due to instability in the itineraries. We also recommend that you protect your flight with travel insurance and a refundable ticket.

We also recommend that you protect your flight with travel insurance and a refundable ticket. Contact AIG Travel Guard to get more information.

We recommend purchasing travel insurance, which will protect you in the event of an unanticipated cancellation of your trip, and depending on the plan you choose, can refund all the costs already paid (including flights, trip costs, and your payment to us). Please note: you must purchase this plan within 14 days of your deposit payment.  Please send us a copy of your plan if you choose to purchase one.

AIG Travel Guard

You will need a passport valid for more than six months after your trip. Make two copies of your passport. Leave one at home and bring the other with you to the BVI in case of an emergency. Ensure you provide a color copy of your passport to WWTrek 90 days before your departure date. Carry two extra passport photos when you travel.

There is a $15 departure tax that will be collected upon departure as well as a $10 environmental tax which is collected upon arrival. *Depending on your flight choice, these taxes may be included in your airfare.

In many parts of the world, gratuities are given in appreciation for a job well done. Our guides will take care of tipping service personnel along the way so that you don’t have to think about it.

For any additional services outside of our itinerary, plan to tip 10% (transport, restaurants, baggage, lodges, etc). We will provide you with detailed tipping recommendations on your ‘Trip Detail’ site once you sign up.

At the trails end you will have the opportunity to contribute to a group tipping pool that will be presented to your WWTrekking guides and trekking staff as we say our goodbyes.

We provide a complimentary 6-week extensive fitness and nutrition program to help our guests prepare for their journey ahead. The program is tailored specifically for our trips and includes virtual 1 on 1 coaching sessions with our Fitness and Nutrition Specialist.

General Information

The British Virgin Islands (BVI) is a British Overseas Territory nestled in the Caribbean, east of Puerto Rico. The BVI, which is part of a volcanic archipelago, is comprised of 4 main islands and over 50 smaller islands and cays, with the largest just over 20 square miles. With the North Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Caribbean Sea to the south, the BVI boasts beautiful sandy beaches, marine life, and a vibrant culture.

The indigenous islanders fell under Spanish rule with the arrival of Columbus in 1493. The Dutch were the first to establish a colony on Tortola before Great Britain took over in the 1600’s. Despite a long history of colonial rule, British Virgin Islanders’ are proud that they still own the majority of BVI land and attribute their independent character and strong economy to this fact.

Tanzanians bear a surprisingly strong national association, or ujamaa (family-hood). They rarely identify themselves by tribe upon an initial meeting. This collective attitude comes from the Julius Nyerere days and his push to unify over 120 tribes in a socialistic type society. This national mindset allows Tanzania a relatively peaceful existence with tribes coexisting. Christians and Muslims live side by side with minimal friction.
